What exactly is the difference between house music and techno?
I recently started listening to Daft Punk (I've only heard two or three songs so far). Being a jazz fan usually, I was wondering what the specific difference is between house music (which Wikipedia classifies Daft Punk as) and techno (the more generic term I've heard applied to them).

- House music is funky, loose, relatively slow, often includes piano, and has a generally laid-back feel. The beat usually follows a pattern of "doomp, doomp, duh-doomp, doomp". Techno, however, is faster, tighter, uses minimal synth, and often includes German robots saying random stuff that nobody can understand, but nevertheless sounds cool, and much of the focus is on rhythm. The beat follows a pattern of "doomp-doomp-doomp-doomp"
